Your Baby’s First Trip To The Dentist

The first visit of your baby to the dentist and the first experience at the dental practice play a significant role in his or her attitude toward dental treatment in later life. The initial visit should be adaptive and preventive.

The first dental appointment is designed to familiarize the youngest patients with the practice and medical staff. During this visit, our dental professionals will try to establish a direct, pleasant contact with your child, often in the form of fun. If it is necessary, dentist or dental hygienist will talk to you and your child about oral hygiene, eating habits and give you instruction on brushing. Thanks to this visit your dentist will be associated with your child with fun and a good time.

British Dental Association recommends that you bring your child to the dentist as soon as the first tooth will appear – that is normally between 6 to 12 months. During the visit, the dentist will assess if your child’s teeth are developing correctly and will be able to answer all of your dental questions and give you helpful advice.

Many dental problems can be prevented or more easily treated in the early stages. It is worth to remember, those baby teeth are less mineralized than adults and cavities – dental decay is spreading much faster. This is why we recommend regular dental examinations.

It is very important to avoid the situation when the child’s first contact with the dentist occurs because of a toothache. We want to make your child’s first dental visit as pleasant and stress-free as possible, so there will be no unhappy memories and dental practice will be associated with fun and happy times 🙂
